Back to School 2021
Welcome Back! I can’t tell you how excited we all are to have our Sharpstein family back together again, and to begin our year a little closer to normal. While masks will still be required indoors, they will be optional outside. Our classrooms are being set up in ways that look more like pre-COVID, and we will have all our students all day. Best of all, all our teachers and specialists will get to see kids in person. While we are still not having large gatherings, like assemblies and Open House, we plan to start those up as soon as it is safe. Your support and grace over the past 18 months have been so appreciated as, together, we have navigated the changes that COVID has brought. Our school already knew the value of community, but that value has only become stronger during this difficult time. We have all seen the incivility on the news and on the internet lately, so we are grateful to come to a place every day where community members care for one another and celebrate the different experiences we all bring to the table.
I’d like to welcome BACK some returning staff: Mrs. Villanueva (3rd), Mrs. Mendoza (4th), Ms. Keyes (5th dual), Mrs. McFetridge (K-3 Intervention Teacher), Mrs. Erickson (PE) and Ms. Torres (Intervention Specialist). I’d also like to welcome new staff members: Mrs. Lamanna (Kinder), Mrs. Gillin (Kinder), Mrs. Flerchinger (Music), Ms. Curles (Counselor), Mrs. Bertram (library para), Ms. Young (para), Mrs. Vicari (para), and Ms. Fritzke (para). We are also excited to begin our partnership with Communities in Schools, with Mrs. Hudiburg heading up our efforts to increase community engagement in our school. Finally, returning families will notice changes in our front office: Mrs. Sotelo has stepped up into our Head Secretary position, and Mrs. VanDyke is our new Assistant Secretary.
Here’s to a great 2021-2022 school year!
