Back to School 2018
Dear Sharpstein families,
I hope everyone has had a restful summer, and that your children are ready for a great year of learning! Our family celebrated our daughter’s wedding this summer, so I can now add ‘mother-in-law’ to my list of life roles. Here is a picture of Mr. Garcia and me relaxing (after the wedding was over!) in one of our favorite places: Polebridge, Montana. Now that we’ve all had some down time, I am very much looking forward to having our school community gathered again, and to continue learning and growing together.
We’ll continue our strong emphasis on daily attendance this year. As a part of our communication efforts about the importance of attendance, there is a letter included in this mailing showing your child’s number of absences last year compared to the average for our school and our district. Also, you’ll notice a new sandwich board in the lobby with the daily attendance percentage for each grade level. With our school emphasis and (hopefully!) a less brutal flu season, we’ll reach our 98% attendance goal more weeks than we did last year.
Kindergarten parents: During the first week of school, kindergarten students do not attend. Instead, individual appointments are scheduled for each child. Kinder parents, you should have received a letter already with the startup schedule and your child’s individual appointment time. If you did not receive a letter, please call the school office at 527-3098.
